Beautiful Botswana

Botswana, Safari Time!

Have been fortunate to do safari's in South Africa (near Kruger), Tanzania, yet people kept talking about the amazing Okavango Delta and Botswana. When I decided to do Two Oceans, the first thing I thought of was to add a trip after. Long story short, my high school friend Christina is living in Cameroon, and she is a total nature lover and agreed to leave hubby and kids behind to do a "mommy" trip. We spent ages trying to sort out logistics as quite overwhelming all the companies and agencies and options available. Then another looooooooong story short, there was a period when she might not have been able to go, BUT it all worked out and am sooo pleased with that!!!

We ended up organizing our journey through Safari Specialists, we wanted to do something nice, but not uber expensive and not super basic. So we ended up starting off the trip with the nice stuff, a beautiful lodge on the Chobe River, Chobe Bakwena Lodge. Then we went to the glamping part of the trip, so glamping is basically like luxury camping with Letaka Safari's, a local (from Botswana) company that very professional and am soo happy we chose them.  It is set up almost exactly like a lodge, BUT you are outside, are in tents (but with actual mattresses, amenities and are served and have all the same add-on's). It was perfect and would sooo do it again! Just so awesome to spend ALL day outdoors! And even MORE awesome, to have ZERO connection to the outside world, no internet, no technology, no emails, messages, you name it. Pleasure read actual books and yes, we did have electricity and outlets to charge kindle's and cameras, but overall, love the simple life! The safari was called, Miracle Rivers (6 nights, 7 days). Later I found out on my flight home, Letaka Safari's was the featured Safari company on a show called, Safari Brothers! Awesome! Even better that couple of separate unassociated people that I spoke to about safari choices said it was one of the best in Botswana. It was!!

Won't bore with details about our daily activities, but it was more or less straightforward: Early wake-up, light snack, safari, come back to lunch. Rest and shower. Have afternoon tea. Afternoon safari. Dinner. Then sit by fireplace with some wine and... relax! Then in bed by 9pm! That was my week +! Awwweessoommmee!!! BTW, have to mention the food was.... AWESOME! Have to thank our "chef," KK for all the work that goes into literally what tasted like gourmet food, out of a truck with a stove. We had everything from burgers to lasagna to pizza to chicken and fish dishes, really really REALLY delicious. Thames was our super smiley and nice "waiter" and July was the helper (cleaning the truck, bringing us hot water for showers, cleaning up the truck and tent, etc). Our guide Shaka was awesome as well, super knowledgeable and we saw great game because of him!!!

As no surprise, have 2000 pictures that were sorted through to get these "few" (okay, a lot, below) pics, but even they don't even do justice from being there LIVE.
